Q If you could witness one single event on a single day in American history, before 1877, what would it be? Provide a one paragraph answer discussing this event and why you would choose it. Each student MUST choose a different event or I will delete your post. The Civil War is not a single day event, but the Battle of Antietam did occur on a single day. Be sure to list the specific date. If you do not have a single, specific date mentioned in your answer, I will delete it.

If I would have got the opportunity to witness any events in American history before 1877, I would have been a part of the single-day event of the Emancipation Proclamation that took place on 1st January 1863. This is one of the most important events since something unexpected took place because of the execution of Abraham Lincoln who emancipated the slaves in this proclamation and stated that "all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states, and henceforward shall be free."
